Happy Christmas from Lippy Logic!

Such excitement by the Lippy Logic Christmas Tree while we think of where to hang our Christmas Stockings....and do our Christmas photoshoot with the old Instamatic.

We've had a very busy year writing, planning, conceiving - well not literally, at our age - and performing.

Thanks very much to all those who came to our gigs - hope you're still chuckling over your mince pies.

Now we're busy with preparing the next programme. Not wanting to let any cats out of any bags, but we're looking forward to seeing Cissie and Verna's Christmas antics in the 2016 show  - (Veronica: I expect they'll be in front of the telly watching the Queen's speech on Christmas Day.  Christine: oh yes, sherry in hand and pulling a cracker - that's Cissie not HM.)

So here's wishing you fun and frolics over Christmas and peace and happiness in 2016. See you soon!

Eldroth Affected by Lippy Logic Effect!

Well, The New Bore Hole at Eldroth Parish Hall was duly welcomed with 'Gala Celebrations' as we performed The Lippy Logic Effect to good....effect.

Thanks to everyone who came to fill the house, and prepared the lovely supper and the ever patient hall committee who must have wondered what they'd let themselves in for when we arrived with the Big Top....

Here are some of the things people said afterwards, followed by the press review

Audience reactions

How hard you must have worked to put the Eldroth show together. The outpatients scene would have connected with many of our personal experiences and was hilarious from beginning to end. But ‘Pebbles on the Beach’ reached across a broader human canvas and was funny for its characters and their observations of life but also tragic for their underlying hopes, feelings and betrayals. Well done. A great evening’s entertainment.  GP

Enjoyed all the sketches, delivery and timing spot on.  JZ
I particularly liked the second half (Pebbles on the Beach) - a touch of Victoria Wood there. Christine's comic timing is brilliant. She can hold the audience then just go for the punchline. MD
I loved the Vicar[Veronica]'s voice! (Pebbles on the Beach) it was very funny watching it behind [the real vicar] and his wife. Such a lovely 'community' evening  Hilarious, a bit naughty! Something for everyone. Enjoyed every minute of it. BH
The chemistry works very well between you.The first half kicked along very well. I enjoyed how you handled people up on the stage. MP
I loved every bit of it. Well done you! IG
Not a word or note out of place. RC
The soundtrack was very effective and innovative. It added a lot to the show. GC
Brilliant!....we had a good giggle! JO

WONDERFUL performance the other night...fantastic job Lippy Logic!! SP

I laughed from start to finish, and even embarrassed myself laughing out loud sometimes! EI

Lippy Logic Larks and Laughter!

‘We’re feisty and flighty’ – is the Lippy Logic logo- and they’re very funny too!

Saturday night in Eldroth Village Hall and a crowded room sang along, waved hands in the air and joined the Lippy Logic Ladies in a resounding chorus of the LL anthem. We celebrated not doomed youth but the triumph of survival and the fun of the fifth decade and onwards.

Veronica Caperon and Christine Hooley, the Lippy Logic duo, write and perform their own material. It has its roots in their own experience of life for women ‘of a certain age’. It also draws on the rural world we know and love- the farming families, the health and safety preoccupations of the village hall committee, the renown of the local nude cafĂ©- rich seams.

‘Our very own Mel and Sue’ was the welcoming introduction - and yes- the two are witty and obviously share a great rapport. They’re also wise. After a delicious light supper we listened to a touchingly funny exchange when LL gave their audience laugh out loud lines and touchingly poignant exchanges that stilled the hall with admiration for their astute observation of human foibles.

And- we ended the evening singing together that anthem- ‘We’re here and we’re happy’.

Go and enjoy Lippy Logic – it’s a grand night out!

Thanks for all the support - and laughter!

Sorry, sold out for Eldroth!

It's official, The Lippy Logic Effect has had an...effect in the beautiful, sleepy hamlet in deepest Yorkshire (Excuse me, we can SEE Lancashire from the Parish Hall - C) so good job we've got The Big Top to augment the audience space at our show on Saturday 17th October.

Thanks everso much for the support - no pressure then.....

Our sketch comedy evening sit somewhere between Alan Bennett and Victoria Wood? Or should we say it offers a nod to Morecambe and Wise and The Two Ronnies?

Keystone Cops it isn't, not with all that running around and our collective backs. Forget League of Gentlemen and that alternative stuff of yester-year. But you can be sure we give Mel and Sue a run for their money in innuendo (in your where? - C)

  •  You'll have a fly-on-the-wall view of how we at Lippy Logic craft our work (Are you sure that's wise? - V) in our version of The British Bake-Off.
  • You can meet Verna and Cissie, and join them for an afternoon in Out-Patients.
  • To top it all, you'll be the first to see our world premiere of our two-handed monologue (you have to see it to believe it - C&V). "Pebbles on the Beach" is the funny and touching story of two women torn by jealousy and betrayal. And no deaths or shouting to be seen or heard.

Live theatre on your doorstep or what!

The WI no less described "The Lippy Logic Effect" in July as full of "shoulder-shaking laughter" and "scintillating wit, captivating chemistry" (2015 audience reaction).

The show is in aid of Eldroth Parish Hall at 7.30pm (doors at 7pm). The nice hall committee are laying on a light supper for your ticket price, and there'll be a bar for those who need some dutch courage to see the show.

See you there!

Keeping our record up

We know that you'll be chomping at the bit to know how the Lippy Logic fruit and veg did at the annual Austwick Show last weekend.

Well, with huge relief, we're pleased to report that we made the prizes - just.

Despite the wind, the cold, the rain, the rabbit (I'll get the so-and-so -Veronica), camper holidays (And your point is? - Christine) and everything else that anyone living south of Watford Gap just won't understand, the french beans got a prize!

Once you get over the euphoria of hearing that, take note that tickets for our next show

The Lippy Logic Effect at Eldroth Parish Hall Saturday 17th October

are now available from Crossleigh Stores in Austwick, members of the Eldroth Parish Hall committee or yours truly

We'll be in touch again soon about the programme, when we've thought of what to do.....

Enjoy the rest of the summer, or, if you live north of Watford Gap, the wind, the cold, the rain....

Entertaining the WI

Review  July 3rd 2015, Ingleton Community Centre

We packed the Lippy Logic Coat-stand into the car and trundled off to Ingleton in July to entertain the Ladies from the Ingleborough Area group of WIs...and survived!
Have coat-stand, will perform

It was the first outing for part of our 2015 show "The Lippy Logic Effect",  featuring an Afternoon in Outpatients, The LL version of the British Bake-Off and a unique erm...."rendition" of Jerusalem. You can see the full version on 17th October at Eldroth Parish Hall -click here for details

It was great fun and the audience threw themselves into it all - and laughed a lot too!

Here are a couple of audience comments:

Went to the WI Group rally on Friday. Lippy Logic were amazing. They should be on Prime time TV. Not a rude word or gesture in sight, just scintillating wit. The facial expressions, timing and captivating chemistry between this talented duo are second to none. Really enjoyed the show   FM

We were well entertained by Lippy Logic...As usual they were very funny and topical.....I do hope Christine had washed that Jerusalem artichoke embedded in her icing...it was a very good evening   L C

Christine and Veronica dressed for Outpatients
It was all very entertaining, my mum loved it too...I could see the shoulders of the lady in front of me shaking with laughter!  AA

Lippy Logic excelled themselves again with a great performance at the W.I. Rally on Friday 3rd July.  Cissy and Verna were hilarious in the 'hospital waiting room'.  They promised us tears of laughter and we duly obliged.  The audience participation was well received and, over all, it was a great evenings entertainment.  MG

On the Road Again...

...to Ingleton and the unsuspecting ladies of the Ingleborough group of WIs.

The sketches are written and rehearsed (Are they?-V Yes you know, that's what we're doing last Thursday - C) The songs trilling along (eeerrrmmmm......V) and we're very excited to be off on the road again on Friday 3rd July!

And of course delighted to be providing the after dinner entertainment in this centenary year for the WI. Just hope our jam stands up to scrutiny....

If you're sad at missing out on seeing the show, fret not. It's part of what we'll be doing later in the year at Eldroth on 17th October - more details for that along with a date for when the tickets go on sale.

So as the temperature reaches - oooo, quite a lot here in deepest Lippy Logic land - here's hoping you'll be enjoying this burst of summer at last.

The Lippy Logic Effect - 2015

We're back and here we go then - our 2015 show dates so far....

JULY
If you're a member of the Ingleborough Group of WI Federations then block off Friday 3rd July and head for Ingleton Community Centre. Especially and just for members, our show will try and add something extra to the WI Centenary celebrations with our prize winning jam and .....er Jerusalem (V: OOo! I'll look for the chords for my Ukulele. C: Do you HAVE too?)

OCTOBER

Saturday 17th October  - yes they've let us back into Eldroth after the havoc we wrought with A Double Dose of Lippy Logic in 2013. We'll be along the road at Eldroth Parish Hall this time which is good news for downtown Kettlesbeck at the other end.

DECEMBER
Saturday 5th December - Clapham village hall.
We have had a number of reservations for tickets. However,  the organisers have been in touch and want to put us off for that date. We're very sorry about this as it is entirely due to circumstances outside our control. We are very disappointed and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you. We will let you know as soon as we have our next shows planned.

Hope to see you soon!

ps Thank you for your suggestions about what we should grow in the Lippy Logic veg patch. Difficult to find seeds for Lady's Fingers and Kohlrabi in this neck of the wood, but we'll keep looking. Keep your suggestions coming and we'll try and grow them!

Back on Track!

Well, it's been a funny sort of couple of months in Lippy Logic Land.

Christine would like to thank everyone for their support, concern and best wishes while her John has been poorly. Now that he's back on the road to recovery, well, it's all systems go, go, go!

We're just firming up dates for this year's shows so watch this space for more details soon.

hard at it writing our next show.....
That's if we can find the pencils and Lippy Logic Black Books to write something in them...

And then there's the Lippy Logic veg plot to dig over and start planting.

That's where you can help!

So what shall we plant then? Email us with your suggestions (keep it clean chaps). We'll try them in the two plots and see who grows the biggest, fattest, longest, tastiest in time for the local Village produce show in August.

See, told you it was all go....
